Puede definirse como prácticas antisociales basadas en el acoso y abuso para forzar que alguien se vaya de su casa, independientemente de que ésta sea propia o arrendada. La picaresca y artimañas son variadas: desde inducir la entrada de okupas en el edificio o de vecinos perturbadores, a la negativa del arrendador de cobrar la renta, pasando por la falta de higiene y de mantenimiento de la vivienda o del edificio, con cortes en los suministros básicos de agua y luz. El objetivo no es otro que desahuciar al arrendatario bajo una falsa apariencia de legalidad, convencerle para que él mismo abandone la vivienda o minar su paciencia e integridad moral, prácticas todas ellas que constituyen fraude y delito. Se trata de un fenómeno social muy reciente que aún no ha sido muy estudiado por la doctrina pero que, lentamente, va apareciendo en nuestra legislación y jurisprudencia con distintas denominaciones: hostigamiento, asedio, acoso o mobbing inmobiliario (algunos autores mantienen el anglicismo blockbusting).
