Pío Baroja y Nessi (San Sebastián, 28 de diciembre de 1872 – Madrid, 30 de octubre de 1956) fue un escritor español de la llamada Generación del 98 y médico. Fue hermano del pintor y escritor Ricardo Baroja, de la escritora Carmen Baroja y tío del antropólogo Julio Caro Baroja y del director de cine y guionista Pío Caro Baroja.

La lucha por la vida la integran las novelas  La busca (1904), Mala hierba (1904) y Aurora roja (1904).

La novela Aurora roja nos muestra un vecindario madrileño durante la segunda mitad de la década 1880, viviendo la lucha anarquista a través de sus protagonistas, Juan Alcázar, escultor e idealista.
