European Association of Zoo and Wildlife Veterinar

Allan Muir is a veterinary surgeon working in the fields of conservation medicine and zoo animal health. During his time at EAZA, Allan was responsible for the animal health policy portfolio including inputting into the formation of the EU Animal Health Law and supporting its implementation across the EAZA community.

In his current role as Head of Veterinary Services at Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, he oversees the veterinary care of animals kept at the headquarters in Jersey Zoo, and at field sites across the globe.

He enjoys collaborative working and hopes the Handbook presented here will contribute to improved zoo animal health, and facilitate beneficial partnerships between zoos, zoo veterinarians and veterinary competent authorities across the EU.
