Is it for me?

Fans of literature who live close to Cheltenham or don’t mind travelling to get there, should not miss the literary festival this month. It started last Friday (5th October) and is carrying on until Sunday 14th October.

The annual event attracts some of the biggest names in and away from the literary world, this year’s line up includes: A C Grayling, Frankie Dettori, Sue Townsend, Rachel Joyce, Pam Ayres, Nigella Lawson, Victoria Pendleton, Sandi Toksvig and Ian Rankin.

Budding writers, published authors, avid readers and families of all ages are welcome. There are events throughout the week to appeal to everyone. Children will love the chance to meet Peppa Pig and hear a story, or perhaps visit the Ladybird storytelling event.

Novice writers might get inspired by their favourite author, or learn tips of the trade from those in the know. There is also a selection of creative writing workshops and master classes run by authors and publishing experts.

Join in a hard-hitting debate on a range of controversial subjects or enjoy some refreshing comedy from the country’s top stand ups. Educate yourself at the interactive media sessions, food and drink evenings, family fun talks and other activities. Or of course, simply wander round and get inspired.

Many events need to be booked in advance and tickets range in price. However, there is also a great range of free activities, delicious food and drink options and a bazaar selling arts and crafts goodies. Other souvenirs can be found in the Festival Marketplace.

A trip to the festival makes for an excellent day out for all the family and a great chance to network. For more information, visit: www.cheltenhamfestivals.com.
